Der Englisch "Üben" - Thread

I've never seen auch a thread in my whole time at this board. It's always amazing what kind of litte secrets one can fnd when he's bnored an searches for new interesting topics to talk about.

On this note a nice "Cya all later in the german part of the board" from your respectful user colleague Iron Fist. Cya later bitches! :D

A least I want to mention that I have chosen English for LK. But this ist just a side note!

I think I will do so, too.

Oh, sorry that language this translator do not have...

Pay attention to the syntax. English does not allow any other word order than subject - verb - object (perhaps except of poetry). It must be "this translator does not have that language". :)

You know that ypu are a lucky guy? You have still the chance to chosse Lks. In Lower Saxon, thats where I come from, pupils have no longer the chance to do so. They have to choose profiles oder better said packages. May I ask you what other subject you are going to choose?

Nice idea....a thread to practice on's english skills.....reminds me of the bible vers (luke 6,39) of the two blind men leading each other *g*.
I really would like to join you, but after the first few postings you guys would hate me for being such a smart-ass :D

This is the first time I notice this thread!
I know such "English threads" from other forums...

I love speaking or writing in English, and I'm going to do a "language journey" in the next summer vacations.
I've even been writing an English story (and still continue writing).
That was my common opinion...*gg*

What "choosable subjects" are you talking about? Does "LK" mean "Leistungskurs"?
If it means, I'll have to chosse English as one of the subjects, because I learn more English per week than other students, and I've got sociology and geography in English (later history as well, I think).

:verwirrt: I've allways fought, it's me who's the smart guy ... :D
Wouldn't it be better to choose a topic to talk about?

PS: For my oral englisch matura I've to work out 3 topics (2 kernstoff & 1 Spezialgebiet): - Shortstories, 12 Angry Men / Death penalty and for the "spezialgebiet" i can elect a topi for my own, maybe i choose sciencefiction ... other suggestions?

@ Heowa: It seems to me that you formulate your sentences by translating German expressions into English.

For example, I would prefer "language trip" over "language journey". And did you want to express "allgemein" with "common"?

It appears to me you've already chosen a topic....schoolsubjects and englishtests. Looks like a good one to me.

oh my god ... spelling isn't my domain ... Typing on the pc makes my mistake rate increase even higher than writing on paper.

Yes, that's exactly what I think, but, you know, i've to work out 6 a4 pages, what isn't much .... i've thought sf is a topic, you can talk, and talk an talk ... and it's real interresting ... so I don't know, but there's some time left ... so I haven't to decide yet ...

Can someone remember me telling about my plans for the "language trip" to Malta? I've just finished it and now its time to reactivate the "Englisch - Üben Thread"! (Which got quite dusty in the last few months *gg*)

I think my experiences on Malta are a good topic to resume our conversation here... first of all: Altough Malta is still part of the Commonwealth and English has been the second official language for over 40 years(??), not everybody speaks perfectly english on that island. Actually, we had great luck to get a host family which is well educated. Every family member - even the 15 year old son - could speak very fluently and clearly. The teachers in the EF school were also really good and very relaxed, even though the lessons were too easy...

But let me tell you know, what this trip was really about: Party! The city we lived in was really one whole disco/bar at night with a lot of happy and relaxed people in it. We got a lot of knew friends from many different countries there... Columbia, Lybia, Germany, Kongo, France, Russia, Poland, Japan... Quite a lot of japanese friends. In fact, i suffering under a little heartache at the moment. She's 21 years old... Why is Osaka so far away? :D

Anyway, I hope I'll get some response...

Walter

Wow, you was in Malta? Me too, OK, it was a year ago but I'm still thinking of this island. Perhaps I'll return for holidays or for another course. In which school have you been? Elanguest? I think so, it's in Saint Julians and this town is the party town in Malta. Let's exchange our experiences, OK my experiences are different because I lived in an appartment with other guys.

I've been there with EF, but anyway... school wasn't very important. On some days, we had school only for 100 minutes - and most of the time it was quite boring. That's because we got classified in a too low level, pre-intermediate (4 from 8) .... the reason might be the first test on monday after arrival. We've been out on Sunday till maybe 2 o'clock in the morning, and we came late for the test... *gg*
Anyway, we really enjoyed the beach and the clubs. Altough our school had an own "EF Beach Club", we prefered to go to the public beach. There we could lay down on sand... and we could sleep better, because there was no music :D
Do you know 7 Rooms and Bedouin Bar? These were our favourite bars, mostly because we could meet many international people there. Besides, it would not have been possible to talk in one of the clubs or discos in this particular street, that you know, don't you? There it was far to loud.

Something funny: Our departure was planed for 6.30 a.m. on last saturday... While my friend went home at about 2 o'clock for sleeping, I was staying with a girl until 5.45... when I came home at about 6.10, my friend was already waiting in the door with a really, really worried facial expression .... What a great laugh I had about his anxiety! :kaw:

What I almost forgot: We visited Mellieha, Valetta and Blue Grotto... unfortunately we missed to book the trip to Comino. Since everybody told me, that Comino is really worth to see and the most beautiful place of Malta, I've been regreting that until now...

Bye
Walter

Sounds very cool, but I think I couldn't do a trip like that. Going into another country for over a year, go to school there and live in a family I didn't meet before personally. It would be very hard for me and I am rather a shy guy. ^^

Could be my timetable :D

Yes of course I know these bars. The nighlife was everytime very interesting. At ten o'clock in the evening most of the native youngsters were drunk and threw up in front of Burger King. I think, you saw this too. Blue Grotto was very beautyful, in my case an Melliha too. The temples were ... temples. Valletta was cool too, the market with the pirate-DVD's and CD's. We went alot in the cinema on friday's you too and every week we bowled in the Bowling center. Oh man, I think I have to return to Malta.

And yes, Comino is worth a trip. Really. Nice beach.

allright I guess I join this thread now, since english is my 2nd mother tongue now. I was in the US for approx. 10 months and I can tell u, that your english improves a lot if you actually spend a year in a country where the only spoken language is english, so who else was abroad as an exchange student for a longer time period?
