Let`s talk about how you have become such a good english speaker...
I'm more of an English writer than an English speaker, actually ;).
Most of my 'knowledge' of the English language I acquired during the last years of my school time. It was actually 'Star Wars' that started it all. I didn't want to wait for the German translations (even though the publishers were faster than they are now), so I started to read in English (I believe the Jedi Academy trilogy was the first one, but I may be mistaken; have never had a good memory). It was quite hard at the beginning, but I've always been kind of, well... thick-headed (not to say 'stubborn'), and thus I continued. After SW came Fantasy (Feist especially, later then Lord of the Rings for the first time in English; many later times were to follow), and after a year or so I discovered my love for 19th century literature.

Have you ever been to england/amerika?
I have been to England and Ireland several times (alone, with my wife, with pupils) and twice to Canada (no, I never visited the US).

Wow.. maybe i should read some english literature?

My english teacher for the last 3 years never speaked with us english, and we never had to write essays. Now we got a new teacher, and it`s hard to learn all the aspects oft writing an speaking. But our grammar ist good...

Maybe - if i got the money - i`ll study in the Us. You know there are many great universities and i hope one oft them will gave me the chance. It`s a pity that the education system in austria (i think german too) is so bad. In vienna they have to teach in the Cinema, because oft the small buildings

Alltogether my english isn`t very bad, in the relation to all the others in my class.

(I`ve certainly made much mistakes, you don`t need to correct all ;))

Good bye

Walter

'Course. What did you expect :D?

Before Wraith tells you: speak - spoke - spoken
There's also the form 'spake' which nobody uses anymore, but I personally like it (Charles Dickens used it ;)).

Ah, I see. Well, I guess I was quite lucky... most of my English teachers didn't bother to use German... I didn't like it at first, but I began to see the wisdom in it during 8th grade where I had the only teacher who did not speak English during the lesson (and, in my opinion, not outside of it as well  ).
I speak English in every single one of my classes (even in 5th grade; well, I would, if I had a 5th grade). It's sometimes quite difficult, especially in the lower classes, where you have to make what you say as easy to understand as possible.
My 10th, by the way, has to hold a 'Buchvorstellung' about an English book this year. That way I hope to encourage them to read works in a different language than their own.

Arthi... thanks :D

@Wraith
"Buchvorstellung" is a very good idea, maybe i can convince my teacher to give us some english books. I am sure that i have an english book here ....

I`ll go and search for it!

See you later...

Give? Who said anything of give? They're between 15 and 17, they sure as hell can get English books on their own .
I don't have any restrictions as to what the book may be, either, so I couldn't help somebody who likes thrillers and hates Fantasy, anyway ;).
But maybe I'll sacrifice a lesson so that they can go into the 'Computerraum' and order their book over my account (they'll have to give me the money, of course).

I`sure of that i have an english book here ....
Yes, your 'English Book' :D.

I`ll go and search for it!
You 'look for' something or you 'search' it. No mix allowed ;).

Well, I think the best way of learning english is to visit the USA, like I do in the year 2001. I`m very good in speaking english and I can express myself better than my father who is actually very good in english. The "Oxford English" is not so good, because you haven`t such a vocabulary like in the American English. I`ve got in every school year a very good mark in exam. But I hate the people who are too lazy for learning that language. I think it`s very silly to say, that you haven`t to learn this language, because it is a very important one.

Excuse me, but you?re wrong.... you can?t say ?like I do in the year 2001.? It was last year, therefore you have to say "I think the best way of learning english is to visit the USA, like I did in the year 2001.?

I would also say ?the best way to learn english.? :D What is the suggestion of our PSW teacher? ;)

Wraith which I to always ask wanted, who is the man on your userpic ? Is he from star Wars ? And in the Background these dragon Does he have to do somewhat thereby?

I have been lerning english since year(schuljahr ;) ) 3, but I really startet to learn English since year 5: writing, marks and so on.
Now I'm in year seven.

Yesterday I order(e*?*)d a NJO book! It's book 3, I have choosen it, because I have it in German.

I have english only since year 5 but of the beginning with notes

My teacher want that I read much books in English but i´ve only read Harry Potter 1-4 in english because it was easy to understand:D.The Lord of the Rings I read on German and my Star Wars books ,too.

Oh we have written yesterday (on Friday) a shot test :( I believe I get a bad note.

I have english since 6 years. Now I have english too in the Occupation School (or so, Wraith, what mean 'Gewerbeschule'?). The english teacher is very incompetent, because, she can't any German (okay, okay a little bit). So, she can't explain us any gramar things in german and so, many of my collegues don't understand anything (me too, sometimes) but I think, we must not speak english perfectly. The 'Hauptsache' is, that we can speak that the other person knows what we mean.

Did you mean with "notes" "Notizen" or marks? Don`t worry if you get a bad mark. In my opinion it`s important that you understand why the language is so and so, an how its to use.

Marks are not so important for me... maybe it`s the reason why i get good marks?

I have not found a book wich is written in english, but i`m going to ask my teacher for one.

You are right, if you say english is a wordlanguage. But you don`t will be understood everywhere. For excample in Italy, you can`t find very much humans speaking in english. In most of the little towns in austria an german, you even can`t find people who talking german as well. I often notice it at TV, in the News. Sometimes some "feuerwehrleute" have to tell how they fought against the fire. And everytime i hear "Nun ja, wir hon do a großes Problem gehabt... ".
