In 1989, West End Games produced an adventure module for their Star Wars roleplaying game line entitled Otherspace. In it, a group of Rebel heroes are accidentally deposited in otherspace, a strange shadowy pocket dimension between realspace and hyperspace. In this clouded realm, the heavens are a slate gray and instead of stars, there are pinpricks of darkness.
The only inhabitants of this reality are the Charon, strange arachnid aliens with bizarre organic technology. Their misshapen asteroid-like starship, Desolate, holds all manner of twisted vivisection experiments enacted by spindly Charon bioscientists. The Charon were organized into a nihilistic death cult devoted to the Void. They worshipped destruction and their Final Prophet, an immense spider-like creature named Ber'asco, led them on a holy crusade to wipe out all life, or the "disease" as they call it.
